Asbury at Campbellsville - Harrodsburg | 5:30 PM | Harrodsburg, Ky.
The Asbury women's basketball team (9-8) will travel to Harrodsburg, Ky., Thursday night for a NCCAA matchup with the Pioneers of Campbellsville - Harrodsburg (9-7). The two teams have met only twice in program history, both coming last season in 2022 with Asbury taking both games.
Asbury is 3-2 in their last five contests, defeating Covenant on December 31st, and falling to Emory on January 3rd. The Eagles are poised for a late-season surge as they head into their remaining eight regular season games of the 2022-2023 campaign. The
Chad Mayes led team is currently one game above .500 and has three games in the month of January they look to take.
AU has been led defensively by three guards,
Haleigh Releford,
Trinity Shearer, and
Jaclynn Ruble. Releford leads the way with 35 steals, Shearer with 33, and Ruble is close behind with 29. As a team the Eagles had taken 203 steals in only 17 games. Watch for the Asbury defense to be on full display tonight.
CU-Harrodsburg has split their last two matchups, defeating Miami-Middletown but falling to UC-Clermont. The Pioneers have key wins on the year over Berea and Simmons College of Kentucky.
Graduate guard Oriona Woods has had an incredible season to lead CU-Harrodsburg in scoring, averaging 29.6 points per game. Woods' season-high was a 41 point performance on November 19th.
Hailey Ward leads CUH defensively with an impressive 34 total steals on the season.
