Volleyball Drops Matches With Earlham and Anderson

RICHMOND, In. --- The Asbury women's volleyball team traveled to Richmond, In., on Saturday to take on Earlham College and Anderson University. AU took on Earlham first and then played Anderson directly after, falling in both matches. 

Game One (vs. Earlham)
Asbury met a strong competitor in their first match with Earlham College, a team that had won their previous two matches coming into today's match.

The first set of the match began to be taken away by Earlham with their early five point swing taking a 12-6 lead over AU. Earlham went on to take the first set 25-14.

AU put together a strong start in the next set, taking a 12-10 lead before Earlham charged back to take seven straight points. Earlham managed to go up 2-0 with another set victory at 25-17. Earlham contiued their momentum on the third set taking the win and the match sweep over Asbury. 


Game Two (vs. Anderson)
After facing a challenging Earlham College at 1 pm, AU turned around to match up with another test in Anderson University. AU once again played strong in the first set until the game got tied at 11, Anderson went into a seven point run to take the momentum. Anderson took the first set 25-17.

The second set was close all throughout, Asbury stayed on the heels of Anderson but couldn't get the run they needed, losing the set 20-25.

AU led the third set until getting a 13-10 lead, when Anderson took another seven point swing to steal tempo and a 17-13 lead. Anderson used this swing to take the third set and the overall match over Asbury. 

* Riley McChord had 20 digs in the second game of the day and 7 in the first

Emma Grace Gray led Asbury on the day with 12 kills

* Emily Janszen added 10 digs against Anderson

* Lucy Kate Gray had 22 assists against Anderson and 21 against Earlham

* Riley McChord's 20 digs against Anderson

Asbury's next match is Tuesday night at Hanover College at 7 PM.
