Volleyball Takes Team Win Over Kentucky State, Five Players In Double-Digit Digs

WILMORE, Ky. --- Asbury hosted Kentucky State University on Wednesday for their second home game of the season, a day after a road matchup with Rio Grande that went five sets. AU put together a full team effort with five players taking double digit digs, leading them to victory over Kentucky State, 3-1.

Asbury came out ready to play in their second home game of the season, building off their strong play the previous night at Rio Grande. The Eagles were all over the court tonight, led by freshman Riley McChord in digs with 17.

Emma Grace Gray put together another stellar performance with 19 kills for the second consecutive game. Gray seems to be hitting her offensive stride which can be a huge asset for AU. The other Gray on the court, Lucy Kate, followed up her 53 assist night at Rio (tied for first in a single game in the NCCAA this season) with another electric game putting up 38 assists.

AU scored 8 of the final 10 points in the first set to take the victory 25-15. The Eagles kept this momentum going into the second set as they took an early 13-3 into the set. Kentucky State settled in and began to score some points but AU stood strong to take the 25-22 second set win.

Asbury went looking for the sweep in the third set but Kentucky State bounced back and put together a solid set, coming away with the 28-26 win in a close ending.

AU settled in once again to the way they played most of the night, taking the fourth set 25-19 to give them the 3-1 match win.
