Eagles Record First Clean Sheet Of The Season Against Pikeville



Wilmore, Ky. --- The Asbury Men's Soccer team took on the University of Pikeville this evening in their 3rd home game of the season. Coming off of Friday's win against Mount St. Joseph, the Eagles were eager to record another win tonight. The Bears and the Eagles played a game of possession through the first half, making them enter the second half tied 0-0. The Eagles put three away in the second half with Micah Schneider scoring twice, and freshman Luke Thomas for the third, giving them a 3-0 win. 

The Eagles held great possession through the first half, but the Bears were able to put up a fight and hold the Eagles to a 0-0 game at the end of the first half. Though a scoreless first half, the intensity remained high. A total of 4 yellow cards between the two teams were given out. The Eagles put the calls behind them and roared into the second half, fighting for the win. 

21 minutes into the second half, senior Micah Schneider scored off of a free kick from 35 yards out, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead. This goal broke his individual season-goal-scoring record from his time at Asbury. Schneider didn't stop there, scoring another goal 3 minutes later with an assist by Nick Clark. The Eagles utilized this momentum and were able to put another away by freshman, Luke Thomas assisted by Sammy Abraham, ultimately giving AU a 3-0 win. 

 
  • Micah Schneider scored 2 goals tonight, breaking his individual season-goal-scoring record. Schneider also led the board with 6 shots, 4 on goal. 
  • Freshman, Luke Thomas scored his first career goal at Asbury
  • Nick Clark and Sammy Abraham both tallied an assist tonight. Nick Clark has racked up an assist every game so far for the 2022 season. 
  • Collin McKibben with 4 saves from the match.

Asbury continues to play at home, as their next match will be on Friday, September 16th against Cleary University. Kickoff will be at 7 PM.
