FRANKFORT, Ky. --- The Asbury Volleyball team opened their 2022 season on Thursday night by taking a 3-0 road win over Kentucky State. Not only does this win give the Eagles a 1-0 start, but also the first career collegiate head coach victory for Coach Tiffany Horton.
AU scored the first 6 points of the game and didn't look back, taking all three sets over Kentucky State. The first set was a back and forth affair that AU took control of after a 16-16 tie, going on a 9-5 run to grab the first set win.
Another 6 point run in the second set led AU to taking a 2-0 lead over Kentucky State. After a small deficit in the third set, the Eagles climbed back with a third time 6 point run to give them the 25-19 set victory and overall match sweep.
The Eagles were led by freshman Megan Walden and sophomore Emily Janszen, leading the team in kills with 12 (Walden) and 11 (Janszen). A strong opening for the Asbury Volleyball team under their new head coach, Tiffany Horton.

"I am very proud of the effort from our team tonight. It is great to start the season with a victory. We are a youn gteam and this gives us something to build on. It is also special to earn my first win as a collegiate head coach."
