MIDWAY, Ky. --- The Asbury volleyball team traveled to Midway University on Tuesday afternoon for a doubleheader, first facing Midway University and then Wilmington College. The Eagles fell in both matchups against two challenging opponents. 

Game 1 (vs. Midway)
Game one of the day for AU was against Midway, a talented team that AU has not been able to top since 2019. Asbury lost the first set to Midway, but then came back strongly in the second to take a 17-14 lead. From this point on Midway went on a run to take the second set and follow this set with another win to seal the victory.

Emma Grace Gray led AU with 8 kills in the match, and her sister Lucy Kate Gray put together a strong game with 16 assists. 

Game 2 (vs. Wilmington)
AU turned around to play another match, this time against Wilmington College. The Eagles dropped the first set, 16-25, and then stayed with Wilmington all the way to the end of the second set before losing it, 19-25. Wilmington went on to win the third set and take the match over Asbury.  

Emily Janszen was a bright spot for AU in the game, leading the team with 12 kills. Lucy Kate Gray had another impressive game, this time adding 20 assists.

"We wish we could've gotten the wins today but we played some tough teams. They were very solid. We aren't where we want to be yet but we will be ready to work hard to get where we want to be."

Asbury's next matchup will be this Saturday at home against Franklin College at 1 pm.
