Paris Named NCCAA Player of the Year, Three Eagles Honored As All-Americans
WILMORE, Ky.--- Three members of the Asbury baseball team were recently honored by the NCCAA for their outstanding performance on the field in the 2022 season.Â
Walker Paris, the senior infielder/pitcher from Mt. Vernon, INÂ completed his record-breaking Asbury career by being named the NCCAA 2022 Baseball Player of the Year, and an NCCAA First Team All-American. Paris broke two of his previously set Asbury school records this season for hits in a season (87), and average in a season (.481). Paris also set a new Asbury baseball record this season for career RBIs at 154.
The stats for Paris were an outrageous with an OPS of 1.366, a .834 SLG, 24 doubles, 2 triples, 12 home runs, and 55 RBIs. Not only did Walker lead AU at the plate but he was also a top starting pitching going 6-1 on the mound. Paris was also recognized as part of the NCCAA World Series all-tournament team. Paris' career at AU will not soon be forgotten, leading AU to two of the best seasons in program history.
Kaiden Zacharias, the senior outfielder from Lloydminster, Canada was named an NCCAA 2nd Team All-American for his incredible season. Zacharias posted a powerful offensive season for AU with an OPS of 1.027, .580 SLG, 46 hits, 10 doubles, 2 triples, 9 home runs, and 38 RBIs. Kaiden was also a defensive leader for AU in the outfield, posting a flawless fielding percentage of 1.000.Â

Ethan Cartwright, the sophomore from Henderson, KY produced a breakout season for AU and was named an NCCAA 3rd Team All-American. Cartwright finished the season with 31 hits, 10 doubles, a triple, 6 home runs, a 1.001 OPS, and a .604 SLG. Cartwright patrolled the outfield with Zacharias as well as he also posted a perfect fielding percentage of 1.000.
