Eagles Take Game Three To Sweep the Series, Win 7th Consecutive Game

WILMORE, Ky. --- The Asbury baseball team and Wright St. Lake matched up on Saturday afternoon for the third and final game of their series. It was senior day at Zweifel Field as the Eagles honored seniors Bryce Barber, Parker Burge, Alec Lush, Chase Neuman, Walker Paris, and Kaiden Zacharias. AU capped the fantastic week off by holding Wright St. Lake to only 1 run behind a solid Jackson Cole start, sweeping the series with a 6-1 victory.

This win marks Asbury's seventh win out of seven games for the week, with an elusive offensive attack scoring exactly 100 runs. The Eagles defense and pitching allowed only 11 runs in the seven games as well.

Jackson Cole got the start on senior day for AU and gave the Eagles exactly what they needed. Cole went 6.0 innings with 7 strikeouts and 1 run that was unearned, collecting his fourth win of the year. The bullpen for AU pitched 3 clean innings allowing no runs, powered by Bryce Barber, Cameron Crick, Caleb Poll and Nate McClellan.

Walker Paris got the Eagles on the board early in the first with a solo blast over the right-center wall, his 9th of the year. With two outs in the bottom of the third, Nathaniel Frank drove a line drive into the left-center gap to score Ethan Cartwright all the way from first (2-0 AU).

Wright St. Lake scored their first and only run in the top of the fourth to bring the score to 2-1. AU responded in the fifth with a double from Jackson Cole that was followed by another Walker Paris home run (his 10th of the year), this time a 2-run blast to make the score 4-1. Nathaniel Frank drove in Matthew Baker later in the inning to extend Asbury's lead to 5-1.

Asbury scratched 1 more run in the 7th off a Noah Brown RBI single that scored Nathaniel Frank who had doubled earlier in the inning. This would be enough to hold off Wright St. Lake as Asbury recorded the win and series sweep.

AU now moves to 22-10 on the season and have won their last 7 games.

* Walker Paris was 3-5 with 3 RBIs and 2 home runs (9 and 10 on the season)

* Jackson Cole was incredible on the mound going 6.0 innings with 7 strikeouts and no earned runs. Cole also had a double at the plate and scored a run

* Matthew Baker was 3-4 with a run scored (5-7 in the series at the plate)

* Nathaniel Frank and Cam Weaver each had 2 hits, Weaver with a double and Frank with 2 doubles

* The AU offense scored their 100th run of the week, putting together a masterful offensive week

* The AU pitching staff struck out 10 in the game and allowed only 1 run

"The day got off to a great start with celebrating the seniors. Then we started off the game well with a run in the first and kept tacking on more runs from there throughout the game. Pitching was strong throughout the whole game which led us to the victory."

     * Senior Pitcher/Infielder, Walker Paris

Asbury will move on to host Berea on Tuesday at 6 PM
