Women's Hoops Defeats KCU In The NCCAA Regional Tournament

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. --The Asbury women's basketball team traveled to Oakland City, IN, to take on Kentucky Christian in the opening round of the NCCAA Regional Tournament. 

The Eagles came out ready to play from the tip as they took the lead with 21-14 after the first quarter and never looked back as they secured the win 89-64. 

Top Performers:
*
Paige Taylor led Asbury in scoring 19 points on 8-15 shooting. The sophomore also collected three rebounds, four blocks, and three steals

*Autumn Herriford and Sarah Dennison each recorded 12 points. 

*Jaclyn Ruble scored 10 points from the night and dished out a team-high of nine assists. 

* Haleigh Releford finished with eight points, while Megan Bellamy tallied five points and a rebound.

*Trinity Shearer recorded a double-double and had a season-high in points (13), rebounds (10), and assists (5) in tonight's contest. 


Key Stats:
*Five Eagles scored in double figures to lead the way offensively.

*The Eagles knocked down nine threes in the victory and were efficient yet again at the foul line shooting 12-18 as a team. Ruble led the Eagles with a 4-4 on the foul line. 

* Asbury's defense and full-court pressure forced 15 turnovers on the afternoon, leading to 33 points scored off turnovers.

*AU posted 46 points in the paint and scored 16 fast-break points.

*The Eagles' depth also showed on Friday, with AU scoring 23 total bench points.

Asbury continues their win streak to 10 in a row and improves to 20-4 with the victory over Kentucky Christian.
