Softball Splits Tuesday Doubleheader with Hanover

HANOVER, Ind. – The Asbury University softball team split its Tuesday doubleheader with opponent Hanover at Kops-Bedel Stadium.

The Eagles were victorious in game one with a 7-3 but fell 8-3 in the final game.

Asbury is now 7-8 on the year and will travel to Berea on Saturday for a doubleheader at Noon & 2 PM.


Game one

*Asbury got out to a quick 3-0 lead after scoring three runs on two hits. Harley Wagoner's two-RBI double scored Kaitlyn Wilson and Jenni Beasley.

*In the fourth inning, Olivia Palasek would single to bring in Jenni Beasley to score.   

*Hanover would score three runs to make for a comeback, but AU would score three more times in the sixth inning to hold off the Panthers, who trailed 7-3 heading into the seventh, and secure the win.

*McKenzie Meyer pitched 5.1 innings and earned the win in the circle, marking her fifth win as a starting pitcher this season.

*Anna Grace Duncan would pitch 1.2 innings in the circle. 

 
Game two

*Kaylee Strunk, McKenzie Meyer, and Anna Grace Duncan saw the circle making an appearance as a pitcher. 

*The Eagles would score two in the first inning; Harley Wagoner singled up the middle to bring home Olivia Palasek to take the lead 1-0. 

*AU would score again in the first inning, off of Taylor Sander's RBI, Wagoner to score. 

*The Panthers scored three runs of the game in the bottom of the first, but the Eagles would tie it up as Harley Wagoner's RBI scored Olivia Palasek to even the game in the top of the fifth.

*In the fourth inning, Hanover would score two runs to take the lead 8-3 and take the victory. 

*Asbury was held to just seven hits as Palasek and Wagoner led the Eagles in hits. 

* Hanover had 15 hits, nine RBI, and 32 at-bats.
