Softball Collects Doubleheader Sweep Against Berea

BEREA, Ky. – The Asbury University softball team recorded two victories on Sunday afternoon over Berea. 

The Eagles move to 9-8 on the year with the victory. 

Game one

*Taylor Enlow got the win in the circle and pitched 3.1 innings in the game.

*In the first inning, the Eagles got on the board first as Olivia Palasek advanced to third due to an error by the pitcher and then scored for a 1-0 lead. 

* Taylor Sanders' RBI single would bring home Taylor Enlow to score again. The Eagles would score one more time in the first inning, by Abby Fletcher's RBI single to bring home Harley Wagoner for a 3-0 lead. 

*Berea would score one in the first inning, but AU would score one run in the second and three in the third, keeping the lead. 

*Asbury racked up 13 hits in the win as Abby Fletcher produced three hits.

* Anna Grace Duncan and McKenzie Meyer both saw action in the circle. Duncan had two strikeouts, and Meyer had one in the win. 


Game two

*Berea took the early lead in game two after a player hit an RBI single and another RBI single to take the game 2-0.  

*The Eagles would make a stellar comeback scoring four runs in the top of the third. 

* Kaitlyn Wilson's RBI single would bring home Brynna Reynolds to first put the Eagles on the scoreboard. 

* Olivia Palasek and Kaitlyn Wilson would score after Harley Wagoner smacked an RBI double. The Eagles would score their last run after Olivia Judy's RBI single would bring home Harley Wagoner.

*Mckenzie Meyer recorded the win for the Eagles, as she pitched 5.0 innings and struck out three. Kaylee Strunk got the save and pitched 2.0 innings, and didn't allow any hits. 

*AU recorded eight hits as Sanders led the Eagles with a 3-2 effort at the plate with an RBI. Kaitlyn Wilson produced an RBI, and Harley Wagoner had two and one hits.
