WILMORE, Ky. — Asbury played host again on Tuesday night, this time to Berea College. In the second matchup of the season for these two teams, Asbury got ahead early and kept it that way, taking the victory over Berea 19-0.Â
For the second night in a row, the Eagles put together a solid offensive and defensive outing that led them to a win. Holten Handel got the start for AU, setting the tone with 3.0 innings no runs, no walks, and 4 strikeouts. The bullpen took over in the 4th with Noah Brown, David Savastio, Eli Wilder, and Connor Butler each going an inning to close out the game. The AU staff completed the shutout with no walks allowed and 9 strikeouts.Â
Although the AU pitching staff and defense were rock solid, the offense stole the spotlight with a stellar performance. A two-out grand slam over the left-field wall in the bottom of the 1st by Kaden Dugle gave AU a 5-0 lead and set the offense in motion (his first of the season). AU scored 3 in the 2nd and then 5 more in the 3rd off two more home runs from the bats of Walker Paris and Matthew Johnson (his first career home run).Â
The Eagle offense continued to produce adding 5 more in the 5th and 1 in the 6th to finish at 19 runs for the game. Asbury now moves to 12-6 on the season and was recently ranked 10th in the latest NCCAA top 10 rankings.Â

* The AU pitching staff allowed no walks in the entire game, striking out 9 for the combined shutoutÂ

"It was a good day for our team, we started it off right with some Canes for lunch that fueled us for the rest of the day. The offense hit the baseball really well, our pitching staff threw the ball great, and the defense was very clean. We are looking for more of the same as we go into the weekend. Roll Eagles."
     * Sophomore third baseman, Kaden Dugle

Asbury will host Wilmington College for a three-game series this weekend, starting with game one on Friday at 5 PM
