WILMORE, Ky. --- On Thursday night, Asbury hosted Campbellsville-Harrodsburg in the Luce while celebrating Senior Night and the Ray Shouse Memorial Game. The second matchup of the season between these two teams did not disappoint. CU-Harrodsburg got the best of AU earlier in the season but the Eagles were ready for the Pioneers in this one from the start.
Asbury came out firing, scoring 30 points in the first ten minutes of the game (10 of those coming from Dakota Walden). AU would eventually extend their lead over CU-Harrodsburg to 40-21 after Will O'Bryan would knock down a three to cap a 7-0 run. The Pioneers continued to find a way to stay within striking distance as they cut the AU lead to thirteen going into the break, 51-38. Going into the half the Eagles were controlling almost every part of the game, most importantly knocking down 9 threes.Â
Moving into the second half the momentum shifted as CU-Harrodsburg came out with a full head of steam cutting the AU lead to two within the first five minutes, 55-53. From this point on the offensive style of this game would turn to a much more defensive, possession to possession game. Asbury struggled to find an answer for the pressure defense of CU-Harrodsburg and would find themselves down 65-62 with only 6 minutes to go.
After an AU timeout with the Eagles looking for answers to stop this CU-Harrodsburg run, Eric Powell would decide to take over the game. Powell scored 7 points in a row, including a 4 point play, and 14 out of Asbury's final 20 points that would lead AU to victory. Some clutch late free-throws from Eric Powell and Nick Fort would seal the win as AU would defeat CU-Harrodsburg to finish a tremendous night, 80-71.Â

* Nick Fort led Asbury with 27 pts against a challenging CU-Harrodsburg defense, also collecting 11 reb and recording a block (Fort's 12th consecutive double-double and 16th of the season)
* Eric Powell provided AU with 23 huge pts, 14 of those coming in the last 6 minutes of the game, also 2 steals from his defense
* Dakota Walden scored 13 pts for AU (all in the first half), collected 4 reb and handled the CU-Harrodsburg defensive pressure most of the night for the Eagles
*Â Clayton Winter added 10 huge reb for Asbury holding CU-Harrodsburg's second chance points to a minimum in the second half

* AU made 10 threes on the night, 9 in the first half (CU-Harrodsburg went 2-17 from 3 PT)
* Eric Powell scored 14 of the last 20 points for AU after they had previously struggled to find a way to score
* AU scored 14 second chance points compared to CU-Harrodsburg's 8

"This game was above us tonight. We wanted to get this win for Coach and to honor Ray Shouse. This was a complete team effort and we won as a team. Calvin (Cowherd) gave us big minutes in the beginning and EP took us home. This was a great game to get our mojo back!"
   * Junior Forward Nick Fort

Asbury will complete their regular season on Saturday afternoon (3 PM) at Miami Hamilton University.Â
