Asbury vs. Covenant | 2 PM | Asbury Luce Center
For the final Asbury Athletics contest of 2022, Asbury women's basketball (8-7) will host NCCAA opponent Covenant College (4-5). The programs have only met once before, last season when AU traveled to Lookout Mountain, Ga., to to defeat the Scots on their home court.
Asbury is returning home for the first time since December 13th, splitting their four games on the road over the past two weeks. The Eagles are coming off a tough road contest against Mount St. Joseph, where they fell to the hot shooting MSJ who made 12 threes.
AU will look to their stingy defense and fastbreak offense to power a ninth win of the season heading into 2023. Asbury's opponents average over 20 turnovers a game, Mount St. Joseph giving the ball away 24 times on Wednesday.
Trinity Shearer, a junior guard leads Asbury in steals with 28 so far this season. Sophomore guard
Haleigh Releford is right behind Shearer with 25. Shearer and Releford also lead the Eagles in scoring, both with around 13 per game.
Covenant is led by junior guard Karis McIntosh averaging 13.5 points and 2.3 assists per game. The Scots are 4-5 so far this season and have won three out of their last five.
