Nick Fort and junior
Caleb Wallis led the way, Fort scoring 24 with 14 boards and Wallis scoring 17 with four assists.
Fort's double-double gives him nine out of Asbury's 13 games with a double-double, and the third consecutive. In Fort's Asbury career that includes two and half seasons, he has gathered 32 double-doubles.
Caleb Wallis, the transfer guard from Jackson, Oh., filled up the stat sheet with 17 points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Wallis also went 3-4 from distance, including a 40-footer to beat the first half buzzer.
Sophomore
Clayton Winter scored the second most points in his career as an Eagle with 16 on 7-11 shooting. Winter also grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double of his own, his second this season.
Ben McNew continued his strong play for Asbury after being named last week's Lexington Clinic Asbury Athlete of the Week. McNew went 4-7 from the field and 2-5 from deep for 11 points, his third consecutive game in double-digits.
Senior guard duo
John Shoulders and
Dakota Walden each put up eight for Asbury, Walden grabbing six boards and Shoulders dishing two assists.
CU Harrodsburg was led by Kereion Douglas who scored 17 and gathered five rebounds.
Both teams were clicking offensively throughout the first half, CU Harrodsburg shooting 20-35 from the field and AU going 16-32. The back-and-forth first half action included eight ties and four lead changes.
Asbury's largest lead in the first came from a
Ben McNew four-point play and then a
Nick Fort layup to secure a 25-19 advantage. CU Harrodsburg responded with an 11-0 run of their own to regain the lead at 30-25.
The half ended with a
Caleb Wallis 40-footer just before the buzzer to send the teams into the break tied at 44.
Asbury's defense flipped the switch in the second half, holding CU Harrodsburg to only 31 points and 12-32 from the field at 37.5 percent. The Pioneers turned the ball over seven times in the half compared to Asbury's two.
AU took a 17-6 run in the first seven minutes of the second to give them a 61-50 lead. Asbury's explosive offense continued to impress, extending their lead to 85-62 with five minutes remaining.
The Eagles scored 47 points in the half and outrebounded the Pioneers 25-16.
Caleb Wallis led the way with 11 second half points.
Asbury's special start continues as they win their second consecutive game and move to 11-2 on the season.

Asbury will travel to Bluffton, Oh., next week for the McDonald's of Bluffton Holiday Tournament. AU will face Bethany College on Wednsday at 5 pm for a spot in the championship on Thursday night.
