Wallis Leads Asbury to Comeback Win Over Grace Christian

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
LANSING, Mi.--- Junior Caleb Wallis scored 21 points and dished seven assists as Asbury came all the back from down 12 with ten minutes to go to defeat Grace Christian on Friday night to start the season 2-0.

The transfer from Rio Grande Wallis was 8-15 from the field with two three's, seven assists and three rebounds. Nick Fort followed Wallis with 18 points of his own and nine rebounds, just missing his second consecutive double-double. Fort scored all 18 of his points in the second half on 6-10 shooting.

John Shoulders added 14 points with three three's and five rebounds. Dakota Walden and Clayton Winter also scored in double-digits to make five Eagles on the night to score in double-digits.

Grace Christian took an early 5-0 lead and contained it throughout the first half despite Asbury taking a short lead 28-27. Grace responded to this short deficit by taking a 10-0 run to extend their lead out to nine over AU.

A three from Zion Thomas and layup from Caleb Wallis gave Asbury a quick five point swing that brought them within three at the half, 44-47. Wallis was 6-9 in the first half with 14 points.

Grace Christian took a 12-4 run halfway through the second to extend their lead to 12 with only ten minutes to go in the game. Asbury responded with a 16-4 run over the next five minutes to tie the game at 76 with just under five minutes to go. The run was powered by five points from Nick Fort and a three from John Shoulders

Consecutive threes from John Shoulders and Dakota Walden gave Asbury their largest lead yet in the game at a six point cushion they didn't look back from. Two late free-throws from Dakota Walden iced the game as AU completed their comeback win on the road, 91-87.
