SWANNANOA, NC. --- The Asbury Men's Soccer team hit the road for an early match against the Warren Wilson Owls at 4:30 PM. The Eagles dominated the majority of the match, and through a tough battle, secured their seventh win of the season in a 3-1 game.
The Eagles began the match with a high-press style of play and put pressure on the Owls immediately. The Owls held strong for the first 16 minutes until
Delorges Lavra put one away with an assist by
Josh Dluhos. AU used the early goal from Lavra to push forward and continue to press the Owls. Warren Wilson's defense held the Eagles for the remainder of the half, and the half ended with Asbury up 1-0.
In the second half, the Owls attempted to match AU's pressure, but the Eagle's defense stood firm to their push. After a scoreless 10 minutes,
Gavin Howard chipped the Owl's defense and
Ryan Kim came in and put the ball in the back of the net, for Asbury's second goal of the match. With the Eagles up 2-0 now, they took advantage of their lead and put their final goal of the match away by
Sammy Abraham, assisted by
Bryan Ortiz.
Warren Wilson was able to build slight momentum and put one away shortly after the Eagles third goal, making it a 3-1 game with about 25 minutes remaining. Asbury was determined for a win though, and held the Owls to their one goal for the rest of the match, resulting in a 3-1 win for the Eagles.
This win is huge for the Eagles as it makes them eligible for post-season competition.

"Super happy to pick up another win tonight. Great effort from the boys. Now our focus is on ending the season on a high note going into regionals, and hopefully nationals."
- Ryan Kim, Sophomore | Forward
