Eagles Claim Big 7-1 Win at Home on Senior Night Against Ohio Christian

Wilmore, Ky. --- The Eagles hosted Ohio Christian University tonight for their last home match of the 2022 season. Kick-off was at 7 PM and the Eagles put on an outstanding show and claimed a 7-1 victory tonight, with all seven goals scored by seven different players.

Being Senior Night for the Eagles, the Men's Soccer program was able to recognize 13 seniors for their time and effort put into the program throughout their years here. Those seniors included Trevor Matthews, Sammy Abraham, Daonhan Tran, Micah Schneider, Delorges Lavra, Daniel Shelton, Micah Harper, Yannick Landwehr, Lucas Lee, Antoine Yongbang, Aaron Crombie, Kole Linville, and Jason Law. These seniors will be missed and are wished the best of luck in their future endeavors!

Freshman, Luke Thomas helped begin the intense push by the Eagles with a goal in the 7th minute, assisted by Austin Dunlap. Three minutes later, Micah Schneider tallied his 9th goal of the season. This goal put Schneider at number 10 in the NCCAA for goals, as well as number 4 for game-winning goals. Just 12 minutes into the match, the Eagles held a 2-0 lead and went for a penalty kick which was saved, but then rebounded by Daonhan Tran, giving him his first goal of the 2022 season.

AU continued to press forward and put another away in the 31st minute by Ryan Kim, with a beautiful assist by Daniel Shelton. Asbury pushed even further and was able to put goal number 5 of the night away by Delorges Lavra, assisted by Josh Dluhos. This was Delorges' first goal of the 2022 season as well.

The Eagle's defense and keeper, Collin McKibben stood firm the entire first half and held the Trailblazers to zero shots for the half.

Ten minutes into the second half, OCU rebounded with their first goal of the night, but the Eagles were determined to keep putting balls in the back of the net. In the 74th minute, Sammy Abraham matched OCU's retaliation and put another behind the keeper, assisted by Oliver Gunthorpe, his first assist of the season. Asbury didn't stop there and put their final goal of the night away in the 87th minute by Xavier Hale, assisted by Nick Eller, a first for both of them this season, giving the Eagles a 7-1 win tonight.

Freshmen keeper Crosby Short was able to see minutes today and held the Trailblazers to zero shots during his time in goal.
