Wilmore, Ky. --- The Asbury Men's Soccer team took on Boyce College this evening at home after being away for the previous two matches. Coming off a two-game win streak, The Eagles were hungry to make it three after tonight's match. Asbury kept the streak alive after securing a 5-1 victory against Boyce.
AU came out strong to begin the first half, recording five shots in the first ten minutes of the match. Their sixth shot resulted in AU's first goal of the night by
Luke Thomas, assisted by
Nick Clark in the 13th minute. The Eagles continued to fight for a strong lead and put another away in the 25th minute by
Sammy Abraham, assisted by
Jon Gordon, giving Asbury an early 2-1 lead with 20 minutes remaining in the half. This was Gordon's first assist of his collegiate career.Â
Just two minutes later,
Ryan Kim slammed one more in the back of the net, again assisted by
Nick Clark. This assist put Clark at eight total assists for the season and has him in 2nd place overall in the NCCAA for assists. He is one away from reclaiming the title of first. With less than a minute left in the half, Boyce was able to put one away and end the half, with AU leading 3-1.Â
The second half remained scoreless for 16Â minutes, but AU continued to put shots away, recording nine shots thus far in the match. Eager to score all night,
Austin Dunlap was finally able to find the back of the net in the 62nd minute with an assist from
Sammy Abraham. The Eagles weren't done yet, and
Ryan Kim put his second goal of the night away in the 81st minute, again assisted by
Sammy Abraham.Â
Asbury's defense and
Collin McKibben held Boyce to only four shots in the first half, and zero shots in the second. AU fought hard through the match and made their presence known with 29 shots and 17 of them on goal.

The Eagles will continue at home next Tuesday as they take on Ohio Christian University at 7 PM. It will be senior night for the Eagles and 13 seniors will be recognized for their time and contribution to the program.Â
