Women's Soccer Cruises Past Pikeville 7-1

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University women's soccer team rolled to a decisive 7-1 victory over Pikeville on Saturday afternoon in Wilmore.

The Eagles notch their first win of the 2021 season and bounce back to .500 at 1-1 on the season.

With four goals in the first 45 minutes of action, the Eagles developed a comfortable advantage and their lead was never threatened throughout the second half. 

Highlights
*AU got on the board in the first three minutes of play, after Delaney Long connected on a great shot from over 20 yards out.
*Olivia Ruckriegel would score the next two for the Eagles as Genevieve Hill and Janelle Suvimolstean each collected assists on the goals.
*Late in the first half, Caroline Absher tallied the fourth goal with Deidra Long providing the assist.
*In the second half, sisters Hannah Pack and Cora Pack each scored, while Absher tallied another goal off a penalty kick.
*Pikeville's lone goal of the contest came midway through the second half.

Key Stats
*Asbury dominated the contest and finished with 17 shots, 14 of which landed on goal.
*UPike was limited to only seven shots throughout the duration of the game.
* Maliya Crump registered her first career victory at goalkeeper and tallied four saves in the win.
*Caroline Absher and Olivia Ruckriegel recorded their second multi-goal games of their careers with two goals apiece on Saturday.
