Women's Soccer Collects a Win on Senior Night

WILMORE, Ky.- The Asbury Eagles women's soccer team faced off with Berea College on Wednesday night's match.

Tonight's contest was Senior Night, and before the match, seniors Delaney LongAshley MillerAmber McIntoshElizabeth SparksJanelle SuvimolsteanOlivia Ruckriegeland Natalie Nicholas were recognized.

Within the first two minutes of the game, Asbury Sr. Amber McIntosh scored the first goal of the game, closely followed by Sr. Elizabeth Sparks scoring the second goal of the contest. Asbury's strong defense kept Berea to only three shots in the first half. 

AU kept Berea scoreless for majority of the match until BC scored their lone goal in the 89th minute. AU saw out the end of the game, claiming a 2-1 victory. 

The Eagles led the contest with a totaled 12 shots on goal, surpassing Berea's seven shots.

Asbury women's soccer now holds a record of (2-6-0).

"We've been working on a couple of things in practice, and we finally connected the dots in tonight's game. We look forward to the growth as a team and as a program. I'm so happy to be a part of this team and get to play along with my fellow seniors."

Asbury will return to action on Oct. 2 at 2 PM to face DIII Covenant College Scots.
