Women's Soccer Suffers a Loss on the Road

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Asbury women's soccer was defeated 2-0 at Scotland Yard Stadium against the NCAA Division III Covenant College Scots (6-4-1) on Saturday afternoon. 

Asbury now holds a record of (2-7-0).

Back-to-back shots from Delaney Long nearly put the Eagles on the board early in the opening half, but the shots were saved. 

Covenant College scored its first goal of the match in the 25th minute off of a cross. The Scots led 1-0 going into halftime.

In the second half, Asbury's offense continued to take shots. Shots from Genevieve Hill, Amber McIntosh, and Deidra Long were all off-target, keeping the score 1-0. 

Deidra Long recorded another shot in the last few minutes in the half, but Covenant goalie saved her attempt. 

At the 89th minute of the match, AU's defense couldn't contain the Scots anymore when they scored their second goal to attain a 2-0 score. 

Covenant outshot Asbury in total shots by one; however, they were more accurate with five shots on goal than AU's two. Deidra and Delaney Long led the Eagles with three shots apiece. 

Maliya Crump logged three saves at goalie.

Asbury will return to action in Circleville, Ohio, on Oct. 7 to face Ohio Christian.
