WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University softball team split its Friday doubleheader against Ohio Christian at home in RSC play.
Both games went into extra innings, as the Eagles fell 4-2 in game one (8) and then won 1-0 (9) in game two.
Asbury collects its 10
th win in league play and remains in third in the RSC West, holding onto the final spot for the RSC Championship heading into its final four games of the regular season.
The Eagles face Oakland City at home tomorrow at 5 and 7 PM. With two victories tomorrow, Asbury can officially clinch a spot into the conference tournament for the first time since joining the RSC in 2017.
Game one
*After three scoreless frames, Ohio Christian scored two runs in the top of the fourth for a 2-0 lead.
*AU scored its first run of the afternoon as
Harley Wagoner brought home
Taylor Enlow off an RBI double to cut the lead down to 2-1.
*
Chandler Kelly smashed a game-tying HR in the bottom of the seventh to send the game to extra innings.
*However, in the eighth, OCU scored two runs off an RBI double to deep-right center for a 4-2 lead.

Ally Moore pitched 8 innings and allowed six hits and the Eagles were limited to only five hits in the loss.
Game two
*McKenzie Meyer and
Abby Ponder combined for a complete game shutout in the win. Meyer got the start and lasted 2.1 innings, as Ponder finished in relief for the final 6.2 innings.
*The Eagles had multiple opportunities to take the lead in the sixth and seventh innings but were held scoreless.

Harley Wagoner reached on a two-out double in the ninth and scored off an error later in the inning to win the game for AU.
*Wagoner led the Eagles with two hits with Enlow also posting a triple in the victory.
