WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University softball team won its sixth straight game on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader sweep over Carlow University in River States Conference play at home.
Asbury opens up RSC play with a record of 4-0 and improves to 12-14 overall on the year.
Game one
*Asbury scored its only two runs of the game in the bottom of the first thanks to an RBI single from Abby Fletecher and a bases loaded walk from
Chandler Kelly that scored
Madison Moss and
Taylor Enlow.

Abby Ponder pitched complete game in the circle and allowed only one run and just five hits in the victory.
*The Celtics got on the board in the third inning off a sacrifice bunt which scored the runner from third to make it a 2-1 game.
*Carlow was limited to only one hit in the final four innings of work as Ponder and the Eagles made quick work of the Celtics' bats.

Jenni Beasley recorded her fifth multi-hit game of the year and led Asbury with a 2-3 performance at the plate.
Game two
*It was another strong pitching effort for the Eagles in game two, as they held CU scoreless for the first six innings of play.
*
Olivia Judy's RBI double to left scored Moss for the early 1-0 edge.
*Leading 1-0, the Eagles got another run in the fourth. Fletcher led things off with a double to center and
Harley Wagoner would bring her home later in the inning off an RBI single to make it 2-0 AU.
*The Eagles tacked on another run of insurance in the fifth after Judy picked up her second hit and RBI of the day on an infield single to short.
*Carlow made a late comeback attempt in the seventh, as they scored two runs and had the tying run in scoring position with two outs, but the Eagles got out of the inning and won the game on a groundout to
Taylor Enlow.

McKenzie Meyer and
Ally Moore gave up just three hits as Meyer pitched three innings of work and Moore tossed the final four.
*Judy and Fletcher led the Eagles' bats with two hits apiece. Fletcher leads the Eagles with a current 10-game hitting streak.
The Eagles are back in action at Midway on Tuesday at 4 & 6 PM.
