NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Asbury University softball team dropped their road doubleheader at IU Southeast on Monday in River States Conference play.
Southeast won game one 8-0 and also game two by a score of 4-2.
AU is 17-25 on the year and moves to 9-11 in league play with the losses.
The Eagles were unable to produce a hit in the first game and IUS scored two runs in the first and then added five more in the bottom of the fourth to put the lead out of reach.
In game two, the Eagles played much better and with more composure as they recorded 8 hits for the game.
Asbury took its first lead as
Taylor Enlow scored off an RBI double from
Olivia Judy. Judy posted a team-best two doubles in the contest.
Leading 1-0, the Grenadiers would reclaim the lead as they scored all four of their runs over the next two frames, with two runs scored in each the third and fourth innings.
AU cut into the lead after an RBI single from
Abby Fletcher scored Judy to make it 4-2.
The Eagles had the leading run at the plate with one out in the seventh after Enlow and
Harley Wagoner reached on singles, but were unable to score anymore runs.
Enlow and Judy both led the way with two hits and
Ally Moore struck out three in the loss in the circle.
AU is back in action at Ohio Christian on Thursday afternoon.
