Softball Collects Doubleheader Sweep on Senior Day

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University softball team recorded two victories on Senior Day over Brescia on Friday at home in River States Conference play.

The Eagles move to 17-23 on the year and are 9-9 in league play, holding steady in third place in the RSC West.

After the conclusion of Friday's games seniors Chandler Kelly, Madison Moss, Ally Moore, and Bree Sanders were recognized.

Game one
*Ally Moore got the win in the circle and pitched a complete game and struck out seven as she used a dominating effort to help guide the Eagles to victory.
*After two scoreless frames, the Eagles got on the board first as Jenni Beasley's RBI single brought home Moss for a 1-0 lead.
*Brescia would tie up the game in the top of the sixth after a lead-off triple put a runner in scoring position.
*AU would score the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth after Brynna Reynolds' RBI single to left score Sydney Howard.
*Asbury racked up nine hits in the win as Moss and Beasley both produced multi-hit games with two hits each.

Game two
*Asbury took the early lead again in game two after Taylor Enlow smacked an RBI double to left-center to bring home Moss.
*The Eagles extended their lead out to 4-0 after three runs were scored on three hits in the bottom of the second.
*AU continued to pour it on with four runs on four hits in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run HR from Enlow.
*Leading 8-1, Asbury put the finishing touches on the game as Chandler Kelly hit the game-clinching homer to dead center in the sixth.
*Abby Ponder recorded the win for the Eagles, as she pitched 3.2 innings and allowed only one hit. Moore got the start again and pitched 2.1 innings and struck out three.
*AU recorded 12 hits as Enlow led the Eagles with a 4-4 effort at the plate with four RBI. Chandler Kelly and Jenni Beasley each produced three RBI and two hits.
