Softball Falls in Doubleheader with (RV) IU Southeast

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University softball team dropped its River States Conference doubleheader on Tuesday with (RV) IU Southeast at home.

The Eagles lost game one 7-0 and dropped the second game in a close 5-3 contest.

Asbury will return to action on Friday against Brescia at home.

Game one
*Asbury got the job done on the mound and in the field defensively for the first six innings, as Ally Moore kept the Grenadiers scoreless through six frames.
*In the seventh with two outs, IUS would score seven runs on seven consecutive hits to close out the inning and put the lead out of reach.
*AU was held to only one hit in the loss as Bree Sanders tacked on the lone hit for the Eagles.
 
Game two
*IUS took an early lead in game two with a run scored off an infield bunt in the second inning. The Grenadiers extended the lead out to 3-0 after a two-run HR in the next inning.
*The Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the third off an RBI single to right from Jenni Beasley.
*AU tied up the game in the bottom of the fifth as Olivia Judy connected on a two-RBI single to bring home both Madison Moss and Beasley.
*In the sixth, IU Southeast re-took the lead following a two-RBI single to center.
*Asbury had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings, but were unable to score anymore runs.
*Beasley posted her eighth multi-hit game of the season in the loss.
*Abby Ponder and McKenzie Meyer combined for four strikeouts on the mound.
