Baseball Sweeps WVU Tech, Win Sixth Straight

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University baseball team won its sixth straight game on Sunday afternoon, shutting out WVU Tech 10-0 to sweep the River States Conference series at home.

The Eagles produced their second straight shutout over the Golden Bears and improve to 16-3 on the year along with a 5-1 league record in RSC play.

*Asbury's pitching continued to dominate, as they allowed just six hits and struck out eight.
*Tyler Morrison collected the win, pitching five innings and striking out six, while Austin Jennings and Holten Handel each allowed just one hit combined and struck out two.
*Colton Back led the Eagles with a 3-3 effort at the plate and a team-best 3 RBI.
*Tanner McKee recorded his second multi-hit game of the year with two hits.
*Walker Paris hit his fifth home run of the year and collected two hits on the day.
*The Eagles posted 10 hits as a team and finished with 8 RBI combined.

Highlights
*A four-run second inning put the Eagles out in front. Paris scored the first run of the contest followed by an RBI single from Tanner McKee.
*Back's two-RBI single would bring home Kaiden Zacharias and Mckee as the Eagles' bats were rolling.
*Paris' home run to left in the third extended the lead out to five.
*AU collected three more runs in the fourth on four consecutive singles to push the lead out to 8-0.
*Riley Baumbick's two-RBI single to left would clinch the game in the seventh as Jacob Smith and Dalton Nunley would cross the plate to put Asbury ahead 10-0.
