GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Asbury University women's soccer team returned to action for the first time in 2021 on Thursday in a 3-1 loss at Georgetown College.
Asbury drops to 7-5-1 on the year and is now 5-3 in road contests throughout the 2020-21 season.
Asbury scored the first goal of the game as
Peighton Sowder scored her first career goal as an Eagle in the ninth minute of action to give Asbury the early edge.
AU remained ahead for a majority of the half, but Georgetown would score twice in the final three minutes and took a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.
The Tigers would add another goal in the opening minutes of the second half to push ahead 3-1.
Asbury was outshot 17-6 for the day as the Eagles' opportunities were limited.
Rilen Gettings posted two shots on goal for the Eagles, while Sowder,
Delaney Long,
Amber McIntosh, and
Janelle Hibshman each tallied one shot apiece.
Camryn Savage got the start as goalkeeper and posted seven saves on the day.
The Eagles will return to action on March 25 against IU East.
