Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Completes Comeback For The Victory

WILMORE, Ky. --- Asbury Men's Hoops had a wild Friday night at the Luce Center as they hosted Miami University Middletown. The Eagles came in to the game fresh off a win from the night before, but the ThunderHawks of Middletown, OH came out ready to play. After a half of action Asbury found themselves down 29-36 headed into the locker room. AU would eventually find themselves down 14 points with 15 minutes to go in the game, but they refused to give in.

After consecutive defensive stops by the Eagles, they managed to go on a 11-0 run to get within 3 of the ThunderHawks. From this point on it was a back and forth battle between these two teams. Asbury would grab their first lead since 7 minutes to go in the first, as Jamiel Goliday buried a three pointer to snag a 55-54 lead.

The ThunderHawks weren't done, they kept scrapping to stay in it finding themselves down three with 20 seconds to go. Miami Middletown's RJ Brown would dribble up the court with seconds remaining in the game and nail a buzzer beating 35 footer to send us into overtime at 63 all. Asbury would find a way to pull out this incredible win in overtime as they outscored Miami Middletown 9-8 in OT, giving the Eagles a 72-71 victory.

Tonight marked the 222nd overall win for Coach Will Shouse as an Asbury Eagle, which ties the school record with Jim Aller. Coach Shouse is one win away from breaking the record and holding this honor, we look forward to 223.
