Big Fourth Quarter Pushes Women's Hoops Past Oakland City, 91-70

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University women's basketball team rolled past Oakland City 91-70 on Tuesday evening at the Luce Center.

The Eagles outscored Oakland City 55-29 in the second half and remain undefeated in-home contests this season.

AU is now 8-3 overall on the year and is back at home against WVU Tech on Thursday at 5 PM.

Key Stats
*Senior Kelsey Johnson led the Eagles' offense with a team-high 19 points on 8-14 shooting. Johnson also knocked down three three-point field goals and collected four rebounds.
*Trinity Shearer scored a season-high 17 points and was perfect from three on 5-5 field goal attempts.
*Autumn Herriford added 16 points, eight rebounds, and four steals.
*Jaclynn Ruble collected 10 points and dished out a career-high nine assists.
*Asbury sunk 18 threes on the evening, shooting just under 50 percent as a squad.
*AU shot 46 percent from the floor as a team and posted 23 assists.
*Asbury's defense forced 19 turnovers and held the Mighty Oaks to under 30 percent shooting in the second half.

Highlights
*The Eagles rallied from an early 9-3 deficit and trailed by just one heading into the second quarter at 24-23.
*In the second period, the Eagles struggled and shot just 6-20 from the floor and scored a game-low 13 points.
*Oakland City led 41-36 at halftime. The Mighty Oaks led by 10 points with six minutes remaining in the third quarter, but the Eagles would take over the game from there.
*The Eagles responded with a 13-3 run in two minutes to even up the score at 51. Asbury took the lead 64-60 heading into the fourth quarter.
*In the fourth, Asbury completely dominated the game on both ends, outscoring OCU 27-10 in the quarter.
*A 13-0 run to begin the period would give AU a 17-point advantage at 77-60 with six minutes remaining. The Mighty Oaks were unable to close the lead down to fewer than 13 points the rest of the way.
