Women's Hoops' Six-Game Winning Streak Ends with Loss at Midway

MIDWAY, Ky. – The Asbury University women's basketball team's six-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday afternoon following a 74-63 loss at Midway University.

The Eagles drop to 7-3 on the year and move to 1-3 in road games this season.

Key Stats
*Kelsey Johnson led AU with 24 points on 9-17 shooting from the floor. The senior also hit a team-high four three-point field goals in the loss.
*Freshman Trinity Shearer reached double figures scoring for just the second time this season with 12 points on 4-7 shooting along with three threes on the day.
*Autumn Herriford and Faith Osborne each tabbed seven points apiece while Herriford also collected a team-high nine rebounds and three assists.
*AU shot just 33 percent from the field and were only 27 percent shooting from behind the arc on Saturday.
*Midway out-rebounded Asbury 50-44 as the Eagles also committed 20 turnovers.

Highlights
*The Eagles struggled in the first quarter to get shots to fall. Shooting just 2-16 from the field and 0-9 from three, Midway led AU 16-4 after the first frame.
*Asbury played much better in the second quarter and used a 26-11 run to take the lead for the first time in the game after Fatih Osborne drilled a three pointer.
*In total, the Eagles outscored Midway 31-18 in the second period and led 35-34 at halftime.
*Midway started the third quarter strong and took the lead back at 48-41, but Asbury used an 11-4 run to tie up the contest at 52-52.
*Midway led by just one point at 57-56 heading into the fourth period.
*However, in the final quarter the Eagles went cold offensively, scoring just seven points.
*Midway's 15-2 run to start the fourth gave them their largest lead of the afternoon with under four minutes remaining.
*Much like the first quarter, AU shot 2-16 shooting from the floor again in the period and were 1-8 from three-point territory.
