Eagles Rally Late at Midway, Win Sixth Consecutive with 85-82 Comeback Victory

MIDWAY, Ky. – The Asbury University men's basketball team used an 8-0 run in the final two minutes of the second half to rally past Midway 85-82 on the road on Saturday.

The Eagles have now won six consecutive games and improve to 10-2 on the year. The last time AU had a winning streak of at least six games was in the 2010-11 season.

Additionally, Asbury remains unbeaten in road contests this season at 4-0.

Key Stats
*Leander Ridgeway scored a game-high 25 points on 9-18 shooting from the field to lead AU. Ridgeway has scored over 20 points in four contests this season, and also dished out a team-high four assists along with six rebounds in the victory.
*The senior also hit two huge free throws in the final seconds of the game and was 7-9 from the charity stripe.
*Jamiel Goliday, Eric Powell, and Nick Fort each scored 13 points apiece as they all reach double figures scoring. Fort collected a team-high seven rebounds and finished 5-6 from the foul line.
*Dakota Walden and Siah Holifield each chipped in with seven points.
*Altogether, the Eagles finished 19-25 at the free throw line and knocked down six threes.
*Despite hitting 81 threes combined in their previous six games, the Eagles did a majority of their scoring down low with 48 points inside the paint on Saturday.

Highlights
*The Eagles started the game off strong boasting a 13-6 advantage in the opening minutes. Midway used a 15-4 run to take the lead back at 21-17 later in the half.
*A high-scoring opening half saw several lead changes, but Midway's bucket with three seconds left put them on top 38-36 at the break.
*Neither team could breakaway from each other in the second half, as both teams traded baskets back and forth with neither team leading by more than three points through the first 15 minutes of the half.
*Tied at 73, Midway put together a 9-4 run over the next three minutes of play to lead by five with two minutes left at 82-77.
*The Eagles responded with clutch baskets from Siah Holifield and Nick Fort to cut the lead down to just one.
*A flagrant foul with six seconds left put Ridgeway at the line and the senior stepped up and sunk both free throws with ease.
*John Shoulders hit the final two free throws of the game to put AU up three with five seconds left, as Midway's three at the buzzer was short.
