WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University volleyball team dropped its third straight match with a 3-0 defeat at home on Tuesday night against Midway at the Luce Center in River States Conference play.
Midway won the match 29-27, 25-20, 25-21.
AU begins the year 0-3 in conference action and drops to 2-3 on the season. Additionally, tonight's loss marks the first ever loss to Midway historically. The Eagles are 19-1 against Midway in head-to-head matchups.
Highlights
*AU battled back and forth in a highly competitive and back and forth opening set against the Eagles.
*Asbury trailed 21-17 later on in the set but won the next five points to take a 22-21 edge.
*In total, Asbury had three set point chances but were unable to convert as MU took the opening set 29-27.
*Things were tight again in the second set tied at 16, but Midway built a 21-18 advantage and would hold on to the lead for the remainder of the set to take a 2-0 edge.
*A slow start in the third put the Eagles down early at 14-8. AU was unable to rebound and fell 25-21 in the final frame.
