WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University volleyball team bounced back nicely on Friday evening as they swept Carlow at home in River States Conference play.
The Eagles improve to 3-3 on the year and also collect their first win in the RSC for the 2020 season.
Highlights
*The first set of the match was back and forth the entire way, with each team trading the lead multiple times.
*Carlow led 19-15, but the Eagles won the next five points to take the lead momentarily.
*With the set even at 23-23, kills from
Ashton Johnson and
Emma Ingalls finished off the opening set for Asbury.
*AU carried their momentum over into the second set, where they quickly built a 16-5 advantage.
*However, Carlow would rally their way back into the set and took a 21-19 lead.
*The Celtics had set point at 24-22, but AU won the final four points to take a 2-0 set lead.
*Asbury produced 15 kills in the second frame and swung that momentum into the third set.
*Leading 12-8, the Eagles won the next 8 points to take a comfortable 20-8 lead before winning the set and clinching the match.
