WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University volleyball team lost in four sets at home to Point Park on Senior Day at the Luce Center on Saturday afternoon.
Before the match began,
Bethany Laue,
Mari-Grace Alexander, and
Charlotte Breslin were recognized.
PPU won the match 18-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-15. The Eagles fall to 3-4 (1-4, RSC), while PPU moves to 2-3 in conference play.
Highlights
*AU put together a complete performance and effort in the opening set as they collected 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .406.
*The Eagles remained ahead early on in the second set and led 16-13 before the Pioneers ripped off seven straight points to take a 20-16 edge. PPU would win the set 25-18.
*Asbury had a great opportunity in the third set to retake the momentum back, but the Eagles were unable to fight off the Pioneers. With the set even at 20-20, PPU won five of the last six points in the set to take a 2-1 set lead.
*In the final frame, AU struggled to get into their groove as Point Park led the entire way and jumped out of the gate with a 16-5 lead.
