CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – The Asbury University volleyball team fell 3-1 on Friday evening at Ohio Christian in River States Conference play.
The Eagles lost the match by a score of 25-18, 25-27, 21-25, 27-29. AU drops to 3-5 on the year with the loss and moves to 1-5 in RSC play.
Highlights
*Asbury started the match off with solid play in the opening set. The Eagles took a commanding lead 19-13 lead and cruised to a 25-18 opening set victory.
*AU posted 10 kills in the first frame and held a .333 hitting percentage.
*The second set began in favor of the Eagles, who led 10-6. AU continued to hold the lead as they were up 24-21 with three set points.
*However, OCU would rally back and would win the set 27-25.
*OCU carried their momentum over into the third set where they quickly led 9-4.
*Asbury won the next six points to take a 10-9 edge, but the Trailblazers regrouped and took the lead back for good.
*The Eagles kept fighting down 2 sets to 1 as the fourth set went back and forth between both squads.
*AU trailed 21-20 before winning three straight points to take a 23-21 lead. Moments later, AU held two set point opportunities at 24-23 and 26-25, but came away empty-handed.
