RICHMOND, Ind. – The Asbury University volleyball team continued its weekend road trip on Saturday with a match up against RSC foe IU East in Richmond, Ind. The Red Wolves won the match 3-1 by a score of 25-9, 19-25, 25-15, 25-11.
AU falls to 3-6 overall and drops to 1-6 in league action. IUE remains undefeated on the year at 8-0 and improves to 7-0 within the RSC standings.
Highlights
*A slow start in the first set had AU reeling early as the Red Wolves pushed ahead 6-0 right out of the gate. Their lead increased out to 18-3 later as they cruised to an opening set victory.
*Asbury turned it around in the second set and the Eagles led for the near entirety of the game.
*A kill from
Ashton Johnson up front secured the set for AU, who finished with 11 kills in the set and a hitting percentage of .267.
*AU continued to play well in the opening stages of the third frame, as they led 11-9.
*IUE rallied back with a quick run to take an 18-12 advantage. The Red Wolves produced 26 kills in the final two sets, collecting 53 for the day.
*Asbury registered 19 errors in the last two sets and collected only 25 kills in the match.
