PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The Asbury University women's soccer team fell 3-2 at Shawnee State on Thursday evening in non-conference action in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Asbury was back in action after playing their season opener against Marian on September 12. With the loss, AU drops to 0-2 on the year.
Highlights
*Asbury got on the board first off of a penalty kick goal from senior
Jordan Holt in the 13
th minute of play.
*Less than two minutes later, Shawnee State responded with a goal to knot it up at 1-1.
*AU would re-take the lead thanks to a goal from
Elizabeth Sparks off a shot just outside the box on the left side with under 15 minutes left in the half.
Lisa Nesselroade provided the assist on the score.
*Asbury led 2-1 at halftime, but would get shutout 2-0 in the second half.
*SSU answered with another goal inside the first five minutes of the second half to even the contest up again.
*With the score tied at 2-2, neither team could find the back of the net until the Bears scored the game-winning goal with just under 10 minutes to play.
