PIPPA PASSES, Ky. -- The Asbury University volleyball team began the 2020 season with a 3-0 sweep at Alice Lloyd on Thursday night in non-conference play.
AU won the match 25-20, 25-17, 25-21 to move to 1-0 on the year. The Eagles will welcome back Alice Lloyd at home on Tuesday at 7 PM for their home-opener.
The Eagles controlled the match up front dominating the net with 49 total kills, while ALC finished with only 21 kills.
Shelby Larson produced a match-high 14 kills in the victory.
Ashton Johnson posted 10 kills, while
Bethany Fye and
Bethany Laue each tallied eight and seven kills respectively.
AU finished the match with a .319 hitting percentage and committed only two errors in the second set. Fye and
Madi Bryant led the Eagles with nine digs apiece as the team collected 39 digs in total throughout the victory.
Fye led AU as well with two service aces and posted one solo block and one block assist.
Taylor McGaugh added 17 assists and
Hannah Morris notched 14 assists in the sweep victory.
