WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University women's soccer team fell 5-1 in the 2020 season opener against Marian University.
It was a tough challenge for the Eagles, who went up against the 2019 NAIA national runner-up on Saturday.

Asbury drops to 0-1 to begin the 2020 year, while Marian moves to 1-0.
Highlights
*AU struck first with the first goal of the contest as
Caroline Absher scored a goal on a header from an assist provided by
Jordan Holt to make it 1-0 Eagles just inside 10 minutes of the match.
*Marian responded with a goal quickly to even the score at 1-1.
*With 15 minutes remaining in the half, the Knights added another score to make it 2-1 heading into halftime.
*In the second half, Marian controlled the pace of play and held Asbury without a shot on-goal throughout the final 45 minutes of action.
*MU scored a third time 11 minutes into the second half off an assisted goal for a two-score advantage. Two minutes later, the Knights would score again to push their lead up to 4-1.
*The final goal of the match was scored in the 73
rd minute of action as MU scored for the fifth time on the day.
