Women's Hoops Falls in Overtime Thriller at Home

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University women's basketball team fell 83-78 in overtime against IU Southeast on Saturday afternoon at the Luce Center.

The Grenadiers hit a three-point field goal at the buzzer to force overtime.

IUS outscored Asbury 9-4 in the OT period to win the game.

Inside the Matchup
AU drops to 17-9 on the year and moves to 5-7 in RSC play. The Eagles are currently in third place in the RSC West Division.
IUS stays in the second place and improves to 16-10 on the season.

Key Stats
*Autumn Herriford led AU with 24 points on 8-16 shooting. The junior also posted seven rebounds and three assists.
*Zaria Napier collected a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
*Jaclynn Ruble finished with 15 points and four rebounds.
*Sarah King dished out a team-high five assists and recorded eight points.
*Asbury shot 35 percent from the field and made 12 threes. AU also finished the game 12-13 from the foul line.
*AU scored 15 points off turnovers and 20 points inside the paint.
*IUS out-rebounded Asbury 48-38.

*A strong shooting effort in the first quarter, including four made threes, gave Asbury a 19-7 edge.
*IU Southeast scored 25 points in the second frame and reduced the lead down to 36-32 at halftime.
*Southeast led 51-49 after a back-and-forth third period.
*Asbury shot 53 percent from the field in the fourth and rallied back from a six-point deficit.
*After a three-point play from Autumn Herriford, the Eagles led 72-69 with 30 seconds remaining.
*Herriford sank a pair of free throws in the closing seconds before the Grenadiers hit a three at the buzzer.
 
Next Up
The Eagles will return to action on Tuesday at IU Kokomo at 5:30. AU won the previous meeting back in December by a score of 98-71.
