Eagles Stumble to IUS in Ray Shouse Memorial Game

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University men's basketball team dropped a 105-93 decision to IU Southeast on Saturday afternoon at the Luce Center in River States Conference play.

The game was played in honor of Ray Hudson Shouse, the late son of Head Coach Will Shouse and his wife Whitney. In December of 2015, Ray passed away due to complications from a diaphragmatic hernia he was born with.

Asbury slips to 8-17 on the year and 2-10 in River States Conference league play.
The Grenadiers move to 17-7 (10-3, RSC) with the victory.

Key Stats
*Leander Ridgeway posted his seventh double-double of the year as he led AU with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
*Jamiel Goliday shot 6-12 from three-point territory and totaled 22 points on the day.
*Also scoring in double figures for Asbury was Eric Powell, who finished with 16 points.
*Siah Holifield and Caleb Bonny each scored 10 points.
*Desmond Duke nearly collected a triple-double with nine points, seven rebounds, and eight assists.
*AU shot 41 percent for the game and were 15-41 from three.
*The Eagles completed the contest with 17 assists, seven steals, and 15 points scored off turnovers.
*IU Southeast shot over 60 percent in both halves.

Highlights
*The Eagles hung in with the hot-shooting Grenadiers early on and trailed just 32-29 with seven minutes left in the opening half.
*IUS would end the final seven minutes of play on a 22-9 run to take a 54-38 edge going into halftime. IUS shot nearly 70 percent from three in the first 20 minutes of action.
* The Grenadiers continued to pour it on in the second half, as they extended their lead to 25 at 71-46 in the first six and a half minutes of play.
*With 5:05 to go, IUS led 95-66, which was their largest advantage of the afternoon.
*Asbury didn't give up and battled until the end, as they out-scored the Grenadiers 27-10 in the final five minutes.
