Baseball Sweeps Series with Johnson for Fifth Consecutive Victory

WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University baseball team continued its winning ways on Saturday afternoon at Cecil Zweifel Field with two blowout victories over Johnson University.

The Eagles took game one 15-2 and claimed game two 15-1. For the series, AU outscored Johnson 44-3.

Asbury wins its fifth straight game and improves to 8-2 on the season.

Game One
*The Eagles opened up the scoring in the first inning on Paul Haupt's sac fly.
*Asbury notched six runs in the fourth inning to blow the game wide open.
*Austin Dick, Trevor Campbell, Payton Mattingly, and Colton Back each drove in runs during the inning.
*Tyler Morrison got the start and the win on the hill for Eagles. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over five innings, striking out five.
*Asbury took a commanding 15-0 lead after scoring five more runs in the bottom of the sixth.
*In total, the Eagles racked up 14 hits. Dick, Campbell, and Joe Williams each had multiple hits for Eagles. Dick led Eagles with a team-high and season-high three hits in three at bats.
*Campbell led AU with three RBI. Nick Mackle also finished with two RBI and a hit.

Game two
*Johnson got on the board first with a solo home run in the top of the first, but AU would score 15 unanswered runs the rest of the way.
*Thanks to a timely 11 runs in a big third inning, the offense was led by singles from Colton Back and Garrett McIntire, doubles by CJ Compton and Trevor Campbell, a sac fly by Josh Blancet and Walker Paris, and an error on a ball put in play by Paris.
*Alec Lush got the win for Eagles on the mound in the series finale.
*He allowed three hits and one run over six innings, striking out six. Paris threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
*The Eagles racked up 13 hits, posting 27 in total on the afternoon.
*Blancet, McIntire, and Matthew Baker all managed multiple hits for AU.
*Blancet also led the Eagles with three hits and two RBI, while Campbell and Compton each tacked on two RBI as well.
