WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University men's basketball team fought past Midway on Tuesday evening at the Luce Center for a 73-70 victory in River States Conference Play.

Inside the Matchup
AU improves to 9-18 overall and picks up its third conference win. Midway falls to 6-9 in league play and 14-14 overall.
Highlights
*The Eagles never trailed on Tuesday and got off to quick 12-5 lead through the first 8 minutes of action.
*AU's largest lead of the first half was nine, but Midway ended the half on a 6-0 run to make it a 34-32 ball game.
*In the second half, AU kept things rolling offensively and with a 20-8 run took a decisive 54-40 advantage, their largest of the night.
*Asbury remained out in front at 56-45 with eight minutes to play, but Midway slowly began to chip away at the lead.
*With under four minutes to play, Midway had reduced the lead down to just three at 64-61.

Siah Holifield scored four straight points to push the lead back up to seven. However, MU would respond with a 7-0 run to tie up the game with under a minute to play.

Caleb Bonny scored the go-ahead basket with under 30 seconds to play off a driving layup in the lane.

Desmond Duke sealed the deal at the foul line, sinking three free throws in the final 10 seconds.
Key Stats
*Four Eagles scored in double figures with
Eric Powell leading the way with 21 points. Powell shot an impressive 6-10 from three-point territory.
*Senior
Desmond Duke tacked on 17 points and shot 9-12 from the foul line. Duke also dished out three assists in the win.

Leander Ridgeway posted his seventh double-double on the season and totaled 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Siah Holifield added 10 points and five rebounds.
*Asbury shot 20-28 from the free throw line along with 39 percent from the field.
*The Eagles produced 20 bench points and scored 13 points off turnovers.
