HOOVER, Ala. – Asbury University Head Baseball Coach
Manny Cervantes collected his 100
th win with the program on Saturday afternoon as AU defeated Bethel 6-5 in Hoover, AL.
The Eagles win their second straight series along with their second consecutive game and improve to 5-2 on the season.
Additionally, Asbury gives Bethel its first two losses of the year. The Pilots entered this weekend a perfect 11-0.
Highlights

Austin Shaw fanned seven batters as he got the start in game three. Shaw pitched five full innings of work, and never gave up the lead.
*The Eagles scored two runs on three hits in the third inning to re-take the lead at 3-2.
*
Trevor Campbell's RBI double and
CJ Compton's RBI single scored the two runs in the inning.
*Asbury scored twice more in the fifth inning to extend the lead out to 5-2.
*The Pilots added a run in the half inning, but Kaiden Zacharais smashed a solo HR in the sixth to put the Eagles back up by three runs.
*AU remained in control, but things got shaky in the ninth. The Pilots had the lead reduced to just a run at 6-5 and had runners in scoring position.
*With the bases loaded,
Jackson Cole came into the game and recorded the final two outs to preserve the victory for the Eagles.
Individual Stats
*Trevor Campbell had another impactful day at the plate, finishing 3-5 with an RBI.

Garrett McIntire tallied three hits and a run scored.

Payton Mattingly posted two hits and led the Eagles with two RBI.
*
Paul Haupt and
CJ Compton each finished with two hits apiece.
*In total, the Eagles' bats collected 13 hits.
*Asbury's bullpen had another strong outing as
Tyler Morrison,
Chase Thomas, and Cole did not allow any earned runs.
