HOOVER, Ala. – The Asbury University baseball team split their Friday doubleheader with Bethel University in Hoover, Ala. The three-game series was moved from Wilmore to down south due to weather and field conditions.
The Eagles lost the first game by a score of 5-0, but bounced back with an 8-3 victory in game two.
Asbury improves to 4-2 on the season.
Game one

Will McDonald led things off on the mound for the Eagles. The senior had a solid outing pitching six innings, striking out seven.
*It was a pitcher's duel early on, and Bethel led just 1-0 through five innings of action.
*The Pilots broke through in the sixth with three runs on two hits and two AU errors to take a 4-0 lead.
*The Eagles were limited to only four hits in the loss.

Walker Paris and
Chase Thomas pitched the last three innings in relief, throwing two innings and one inning respectively.

Trevor Campbell went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Asbury in hits.
*Bethel totaled ten hits in the game as a team.
Game two
*Things went much better for Asbury in the second game. After trailing 1-0, the Eagles scored twice in the bottom of the first to take the lead.

Walker Paris' RBI single scored Campbell for the 2-1 edge.
*Bethel would score two runs on three hits in the top half of the third to re-claim the lead.
*AU tied up the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth following an RBI single from
Payton Mattingly.
*The Eagles would then score five more runs to blow the game open in the fifth inning.

Jacob Cervantes earned another win on the mound, as he finished with three shutout innings of work.

Jackson Cole and
Bryce Barber also saw action in the final two innings and neither allowed a run.
*AU posted 10 hits in the win as
CJ Compton, Campbell, Mattingly, and
Matthew Baker each finished with two hits apiece. Mattingly and Baker each recorded a double, while Compton hit a triple.
* Paris led Asbury with two RBI.

The Eagles will face Bethel in the series finale tomorrow at 1 PM EST.
