WILMORE, Ky.—The Asbury University men's basketball team collected another tough win over Covenant College 69-64 on Thursday afternoon at the Luce Center.
The Eagles improve to 6-2 on the year and are off to their best start through eight games since the 2014-15 season.
Additionally, Asbury is now 4-2 in home games so far this year.
Key Stats

Leander Ridgeway had a big day on both ends of the floor, posting a game-high 23 points and 15 rebounds for his second double-double of the year.
*Ridgeway shot 8-16 from the field, knocking down three threes and was 4-4 from the foul line.

Jamiel Goliday notched 15 points on the afternoon on 5-11 shooting.

Thomas Thompson scored seven points off the bench on a perfect 3-3 shooting, while
Dakota Walden also added seven points.

Eric Powell scored six points and dished out a team-high five assists along with three blocks.
*The Eagles shot 40 percent for the contest and converted on 11 three-point field goals.
*Asbury scored 26 points inside the paint and also scored 10 points off turnovers.
*Defensively, AU had another great performance and forced Covenant into committing 14 turnovers, while limiting the Scots to only five threes and below 40 percent shooting from the field.
Highlights
*Through the first 11 minutes of action, it was another slow start for the Eagles who found themselves trailing 24-13.
*Asbury turned up the tempo and its offense began to flow from behind the arc as AU went on a 26-9 run over the next seven minutes.
*Throughout the run, Thompson scored seven points off the bench, while Ridgeway scored 14 to give Asbury the lead.
*Asbury led by four at halftime at 39-35, but Covenant would even up the contest at 46 early in the second half.
*A 9-0 run from the Eagles capped off by five consecutive points from
JoAunn Rivers pushed AU back in front 55-46.
*The Scots would fight back again and cut the lead down to 62-60 with under three minutes left.
*Ridgeway drained his third three of the day on the ensuing possession to put the lead back to five and took away the momentum from CC, who was unable to make a final run in the last two minutes.
