WILMORE, Ky. – The Asbury University volleyball team bounced back on Friday night with a 3-0 sweep against RSC opponent Oakland City at the Luce Center. The Eagles won the match 25-11, 25-20, 25-20 to snap their two-game losing skid.
Additionally, the Eagles improve to 4-9 overall on the year with the victory.
Asbury produced 40 kills as a team and finished with nine total blocks up front at the net.
Highlights
*With 13 kills in the opening set, the Eagles got off to a quick start with a 14-5 advantage.
*Asbury won the final eight points of the set and finished things off with a hitting percentage of .270
*The Eagles had a great second set with a hitting percentage of .313 and 14 total kills. Oakland City fought back and gave the Eagles all they could handle in the second frame, but with a 22-20 lead, Asbury won the final three points of the set to take a 2-0 set lead.
*In the final set, Asbury rallied from a 10-7 deficit and went on a big run to claim a 17-12 lead.
*AU continued to carry the momentum as they pushed ahead 24-16 later on in the set.
