Women's Hoops Sets New Program Record with 22 Made Threes in 115-63 Win

RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The Asbury University women's basketball team set a new single-game program record on Friday night with 22 made threes en route to a 115-63 victory over Great Lakes Christian.

The Eagles wrapped up their final game of the Bevo Francis Classic in Rio Grande, Ohio on Friday, winning both games decisively.

For the second consecutive game, Asbury has scored over 100 points and the Eagles improve to 3-2 on the year after winning their second straight.

All 14 Eagles who saw action in the contest scored as AU surpassed a new season-high with 115 points on the night.

Highlights
*Asbury wasted little time in building an early lead as they shot over 60 percent from the floor for a majority of the quarter.
*Leading 17-11, AU went on a 13-0 run to increase their lead out to 30-11.
*In the second period, it was all Asbury. The Eagles hit 13 three-point field goals in the first 20 minutes of action to lead 61-31 at halftime.
*Asbury began the second half on a 22-6 run to push their advantage out to 83-37.
*Asbury's defense made it difficult for GLC all night forcing them into 29 turnovers.
*The Eagles' largest lead of the night was 110-56.

Key Stats
*Sarah King led Asbury in scoring with 16 points on 6-8 shooting. The senior also dished out a team-high five assists and totaled two steals.
*Kelsey Johnson and Abby Harris each recorded 12 points on 4-6 shooting. Harris connected on a team-high four threes, while Johnson hit three.
*Faith Osborne and Trinity Shearer both scored 10 points off the bench.
*Megan Bellamy finished with nine points, while Cheyenne Fullwood tallied six points and six rebounds.
*Zaria Napier and Jaclynn Ruble added eight points apiece. Spencer Harvey scored a season-high seven points with three steals.
*Asbury shot 47 percent from the field and shot 40 percent from three-point land. As a team, AU scored 46 points off turnovers and forced 29 turnovers throughout the victory.
*Along with the 22 made threes, the Eagles scored 40 points inside the paint and finished with 15 steals altogether.
